Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO)
The Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) is a professional organization dedicated to the special concerns of organ procurement organizations (OPOs) and serves as a national representative.
Incorporated in 1984, AOPO assumed its present structure in 1988 when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) instituted a federal certification process for independent and hospital-based OPOs. AOPO establishes voluntary accreditation standards for OPOs. LOPA received its Full Reaccreditation from AOPO in August 2006.
