The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) evaluates and accredits nearly 20,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, non-profit organization, JCAHO is the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. They accredit hospitals, health plans, home care providers, long-term care facilities, behavioral health organizations, abulatory care providers, and clinical laboraties.
