HOSPICE

Hospice Professionals Making Life Happen

The success of tissue and eye donation hinges on the relationships with our hospice partners. Together, we are committed to supporting donors and their families. You play such a crucial role in making donation possible and impacting the lives of others.

Knowing your loved one’s wishes helps facilitate the donation process.

Information for Families Making End-of-Life Plans to Include the Donation Process

Tissue Donation

Tissue donation can be possible depending on a variety of factors. Donated tissues such as skin, bone, heart valves, veins and tendons and ligaments can greatly improve the quality of a recipient’s life.

Eye Donation

LOPA coordinates with the 3 eye banks serving Louisiana. Eye donation is possible even in the event of an active cancer diagnosis. A cornea transplant replaces a diseased cornea.

Donation for Research

The option of donation for research allows potential donors to leave a legacy of saving and healing lives, while building a legacy where medical knowledge is propelled forward through their gifts.

Register as a Donor

A person registers as an organ, tissue and eye donor in the State of Louisiana by saying “YES” when getting their driver’s license or State ID, by signing up on the Louisiana Donor Registry or within the LA Wallet App.

A family discussion is strongly encouraged so that all family members, or next of kin, are aware of a person’s decision to donate.
