LOPA Introduces Podcast Specifically for Healthcare Professionals

Connected by Life Features News and Issues Surrounding Organ Donation and Transplantation

LOPA has created a podcast specifically for medical professionals and healthcare partners in the field of organ donation and transplantation. Designed to cover a variety of topics in a compressed format, each episode is approximately ten minutes long. New episodes are released every Monday, with the most recent, Guiding Families through the Results of Brain Death Testing, released on July 17th.

“We understand the time constraints in the medical community,” said LOPA CEO Kelly Ranum. “The shorter format allows information to be shared in an easily digestible format. Connected by Life is accessible through podcast apps, making it an efficient vehicle to learn about issues and advancements in donation and transplantation while people are on the go.”

There are eleven episodes already available, covering topics such as donation after circulatory death (DCD), brain death determinations, and physician burnout.

The show is hosted by LOPA’s Physician and Donation Specialist at the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, Shawn-Paul Harrison. Throughout his two decades at the agency, he has served in various leadership roles in the areas of hospital development, family advocacy, and physician engagement. His unwavering passion lies in assisting physicians during times of bereavement to effectively support families and facilitate the remarkable Gift of Life.
