New Features for the Louisiana Donor Registry

Louisiana has one of the oldest registries in the US.

LOPA was awarded a grant to develop the registry in the mid 90s and we currently have close to 2.5 million registered donors.

We recently updated the registry to give individuals more control of their donation decisions. The new registry went live on April 1st (which was also LOPA’s 33rd anniversary) and has some new features we wanted to share with all our volunteers.

You can still get to the registry by going to lopa.org or donatelifela.org or you can go directly to registry.donatelifela.org

The new application has the registration form on the home page, and also has two new options: claiming your existing registration and managing your registration. Whether you registered at the OMV or online, you can search for your registry and create an account.

Once you verify your email address, you can go into your account and manage your registry. You can make changes to your personal information (such as changing your address), specify what organs and tissues you wish to donate (the default is all), or even remove yourself if you change your mind about wanting to be a registered donor.

The new application also allows community educators to set up unique registry URLs so we can track registrations at different events. We hope you will check it out!
