Aliye’s Decision

LOPA’s high school education program is designed to introduce students to the process of organ, tissue and eye donation and transplantation. Inspired by the family of 20-year-old Aliye Ringe, who became a donor hero in 2021, Aliye’s Decision provides teens and young adults with donation facts in order to make an informed decision about joining the Louisiana Donor Registry.

The instruction modules below include information on diseases and conditions that lead to organ failure, and outlines the processes used to match organs and tissues to recipients. LOPA has a team of Community Educators throughout the state who are available for in-person instruction at no cost to schools. Depending on the time allowed, the in-person option allows for area recipients and donor families to share their personal experience for a more in depth and engaging experience for students.
