Tj Mascaro
On December 10, 2012, the news of TJ taking his life struck the hearts of many. With severe brain trauma leaving him dependent on life support, the process of donating his organs was underway. On December 11, TJ was called home to heaven but not without enhancing the lives of five others. TJ was a vibrant 20 year-old with a heart of gold and an animated personality.
TJ was always an active person, who loved the gym, fishing, hunting, and commercial fishing. He was a best friend to many…Someone you could always call when you were down and needed someone to talk to or when you were ready to have a good time. He loved being around his family and his presence was always enlightening. Though TJ's life acquired many struggles, TJ always managed to have a smile on his face.
While getting his drivers license at age 17, he faced the decision to be an organ donor. TJ denied to be a donor, not because he didn't want to. He was just unaware of what organ donation was. While on the way home from the DMV his Nanny explained to him what the program was and how he could potentially save lives if something were to happen. Well, about 6 months later TJ lost his wallet and went to the DMV to get another one. When he came home he had a huge smile on his face and excitedly proclaimed the he was now an organ donor. This was something that made him very proud to be.
TJ may no longer be here with us in the flesh but knowing that there are 5 people that are still alive today because of his contributions radiates a heart warming feeling that is beyond explanation.
