Brantley Cole Spillman
Our Barefoot Angels story began April 19, 2016. Brantley Cole Spillman was the most beautiful baby and so special to so many from the day he arrived.
To look at this baby was to love him. His blonde hair and blue eyes shown out even in the hospital nursery, where he stole the hearts of all the nurses and everyone that came to visit. He was our rainbow baby they had tried and prayed to have for several years.
He was always his Mama's baby when no one was around, with big kisses and loves for her all the time. His normal day consisted of taking his sissy to school and then hanging out with Mom until Dad got home. He knew he was there to protect her (like Daddy) so discipline from her was not taken without some form of jibberish baby back talk followed by a huge grin which made it very difficult not to laugh.
He was always such an active child and definitely "all boy" even with his doting crew of 3 older sisters surrounding him. He adored his sisters but knew from a very young age that he was just like his Daddy and was supposed to do MAN things. Brantley loved to ride his 4-wheeler and work on trucks or other guy stuff like his Daddy. It wasn't very often that Daddy got away without him and Beaux (his dog) tagging along.
November 4, 2017, a very short 18 1/2 months later started just like any other day. We never dreamed it would be the most devastating day of our lives leaving us with an emptiness that can never be filled.
Brantley spent the morning with his Mama, modeling clothes that he was getting too big for and drinking his chocolate milk and "tookie". When Daddy came home to eat there was no way he was leaving again without him. So they loaded up to take some things to the neighbors.
Brantley slipped away from his Daddy there, and the last time his mama held him was to try to save her baby.
It's been a literal nightmare living through the loss of this baby! Knowing that a part of him can live through and help others fills us with a humbleness and gratefulness that can not be spoken. His death, although still so hard to accept and understand was not a waste. Our baby at such a young age is still able to touch, improve and save others lives. Not a day passes that we don't crave to hear him or feel his soft little touch.
Our forever young Barefoot Angel - Our Hero!!!
