Jackson Jumonville
This little red head saved four lives, and gave someone sight at the age of 7 years old on October 2, 2016. His name is Jackson Jumonville, and he is our hero.
We cannot understand his accident, but we do understand how precious life is now. We encourage you to hug, love and kiss your children because you never know.
Jackson was a healthy child; it was a freak choking accident that led to him ultimately being declared brain dead. We knew families were praying for miracles October 2, 2016. Jackson's organs gave them their miracle. I know, as a mom, if the table were turned I would have been begging a family to donate, so we did!
We do not regret our decision because we know four people live today because of Jackson. A 10-year little girl received his heart, and another 10-year-old girl received his lungs. His kidneys went to a 50-year-old and a 60-year-old, and we have reached out to all four families. (We have not heard back yet but hope to soon.)
Yes, we miss our son, and we know he is waiting for us in heaven. Jackson's life serves a great purpose, and we encourage families to donate if you are able. A personal goal I have is to ask recipients and their families; please reach out your donor's family.
Here's what I want to say to recipient's families:
We, donor families, want to hear from you and know how you are doing. Do not feel guilty. We thought of you when we decided to give you a "priceless" gift. We are aware you are grateful, so please let us know how you are doing. If you are not doing well, still let us know, we will pray with you. We are now connected, our family member's organ now lives in you and this makes us smile. God Bless and write or call your donor's family today.
Love Jackson's Mom,
Stephanie Cook
